In rivalries. A team can beat their rival multiple times in a row in the early season and then end up losing when it matters the most.
Sasuke arguably lost the biggest battle of his life (so far) and people still seem to live in the past. A period when Naruto hadn't even began to blossom into the shinobi he is now.
I'm not sure why Sasuke fans believe Sasuke can beat Naruto and vice versa.
Sasuke acknowledged Naruto all the way back in Part 1 and again in Part 2. All while knowing what Naruto was capable of.
Naruto will always be that small fence that became an impassable wall for him to overcome. Always there, no matter how high he rises or how far he falls.
A wall that he himself built:
Defeating Naruto for Sasuke is impossible(Note I said, "defeat" not kill). But you can't say the same for Naruto who never saw it as a true fight to begin with.
