This is where the birds are. Birds are supposedly very spiritial creatures. Capable of seeing into the spirit realm. I think he will use the elder birds to help him get a hold of Orochimaru. Plus the tengu are also bird or hawk warriors right(I suck with mythology) Susan-o being a tengu warrior with The sword of totsuka Its quite possible that they have the sword of totusuka being able to seal souls. and beings. Seeing as Itachi knows alot about the the Sage modes. Its quite possible Itachi went to visit the bone forest and thats where he gained the Items. Because sooo far These items are special to only Itachi. And dont really have anything to do with the actual MS powers. As Sasukes does. Or Madaras does. Like Sasuke Susano-o weapons are more like Madara but neither are like Itachis.

It would also explain how Orochimaru knew about these weapons and felt as if he could find them himself and was jealous of itachi when he found them. Because he heard about them through the sage snake.
