Yeah? Naruto's an idiot. Shikamaru liked him from the beginning since academy age when he discussed it with his father. I mean I get it's tough for you to recall scenes that don't involve Sakura in but Shikamaru's always shown masculine tough love.

Yeah but Kiba was always just that casual wannabe rival type , whereas Shikamaru gave actual support (consoling Naruto when Jiraiya died , inspiring Naruto to get back into action when he was depressed about Hinata going with Toneri , giving Naruto advice about matters regarding Boruto , etc...) . Kiba never did this kind of stuff.

For Years I always thought Shikamaru was always Narutos best friend, to me it was obvious. Always disliked his character being to stubborn wanting Sauske as his best friend brother who understood him, hell even Lee was always there for Naruto. To me that's friendship. Sauske is not a friend. Only people who don't have friends in real life would go for sauske friendships *instert Elmo here*

I'm pretty damn ****ing sure shikamaru isn't capable of generating a following to the likes of Sasuke which was not only enough of but the sole reason kishi's manga was successful.

He helped Naruto escape Turtle Island, fight Ay, fight Nagato and Itachi, fight Obito and his Six Paths (the Edo Jins), fight the other tailed beasts, and fight the revived Juubi. Bee was ride and die with Naruto through some of the worst moments of his life. Without Bee teaching Naruto, there would be no Shinobi Alliance for Naruto to save with his chakra transfer cloaks. Plus Naruto held on to his lessons from Bee. See his interactions with his son, Boruto.

It's just bizarre how Sasuke only has one friendly sentence said to Naruto where he treats him like an equal throughout ALL of Shippuden.

The entire series for 10+ years. And the sentence comes mere minutes after 'why wont you just let me kill you like a good boy?"
