Sasuke wasn't Naruto's first and only friend/bond

Do you remember back in part 1 when they showed flaonly is of the academy days? Quite a lot of them showed Naruto with Shikamaru, Choji and Kiba as they were considered as the 'dead lasts' of the academy. To me it seemed like they were on pretty friendly terms with each other so does that mean Sasuke wasn't his only friend?

Naruto see's Sasuke as his brother since they had to grow up on there own and he also felt that sasuke knew the same pain he felt of not having any parents

Yeah I know what you mean. But Naruto didn't really build a "deep" relationship with them. They would just play around because they were kids. Sasuke was the first of the genin to actually acknowledge Naruto. Unless you count Sakura, but I can't remember...

You're right. Actually, iruka was the first person to accept him. He has said it himself. And shika, choji and kiba were the first to hang out with him and befriend him as shown in many episodes. Sasuke was like naruto first rival more than anything. Sasuke never wanted to hang out with naruto, he thought naruto was lame, and weak and would only get in his way. They had friendly moments but that was about it. Sasuke didn't think naruto and the village was strong enough to continue to fight with them, which is why he went out to seek orochimaru. Sasuke was pretty much a loner, he only wanted revenge at all costs, he teamed up with naruto and sakura only because he had to. It was also to prove to Naruto that he is better and that Naruto needed him. Naruto was more like that annoying kid that followed Sasuke trying to prove he is better than him. For some strange reason he was fixated on Sasuke acknowledging his strength, I guess he felt that he must be strong if sasuke admits it himself.
