It can go either way but I say Sasuke. He can distract him with genjutsu (sasuke and itachi had multiple genjutsu sessions in their fight) the only reason he didn't put deidara in genjutsu was because deidara trained himself to resist sharingan genjutsu. He can pierce Kakuzu's rock hard skin (forgot the jutsu name) with chidori and also stun the other heart monsters with current if kakuzu releases them. If kakuzu decide's to fight with all of his hearts intact, then a few fire dragons, a storm cloud or two, and a single bolt of Kirin will end it all.

genjutsu won't work against Kakuzu because he has 5types of chakra. Even if one of them got caught the other will be there still fighting. And don't forget Kakashi can use raiton too and even better than Sasuke. That doesn't mean you win.

Wait, Hebi Sasuke vs Kakuzu? Then Kakuzu. Still mid-difficulty, but handily nonetheless. imo Sasuke's other victories were: false with Itachi because he let him win, and: cheap with Deidara because Deidara's only ability could be countered with lightning release. Kakuzu would not be throwing the fight, it's safe to say, and he has way more versatility of jutsu than Deidara.

Genjutsu would prove ineffective because of the masks, Sasuke can only use Manda once to save himself, and I say he gets blown away before he's even able to pierce Kakuzu's main body with chidori. I'd give Sasuke maybe one or two hearts, but Kakuzu the win.

I'm not sure if the hearts have independent thought or are controlled when they are outside of his body, so depending on which it is will determine if genjutsu affects him in that form as well.

They are independant. Proof is that even when Kakuzu died, one heart came to save him from his own. Also i don't think you're right. As i said, Kakuzu has 5types of chakra. You're right that genjutsu takes control of 5senses, but for that, it takes control of the chakra. It is said by Jiraya. So even if he manages to take control of one type of chakra, because Kakuzu has 5, it's useless

I'm sure that Sasuke's chidori can pierce his defense. Also, Kakuzu never started out with all of his hearts out at one time. Sasuke could hit him with genjutsu at that point. When the hearts are out, he would have to use some other method. His sharp spear chidori would be useful in this aspect.

Are you forgetting Kakuzu fought against a much more powerful raiton user than Sasuke and almost won?? Kakuzu has much more experience, and like Home said, he is better in taijutsu, ninjutsu, and has 5hearts. Like i've also said, genjutsu is useless against him.

Sasuke practically fought to a draw with deidara who he even had type advantage against. How in the world is he supposed to kill Kakuzu 5 times? Or even survive more than a few minutes against 5 attackers at once?

LOL Hebi Sasuke? Of course Kakuzu would win this. Why? These are my reasons:

1.) Experience. Kakuzu has fought and even survived against the First Hokage, which is the one who defeated Madara single-handed while sealing the Kyuubi. Now tell me, who is stronger: Sasuke or Hashirama?

2.) Kakuzu has the upper hand. Kakuzu has like five hearts. Those hearts even has their own elements. See, I don't care about Kakuzu's elemental problems, 'cause you see, He has all the elements; the perfect way to counter almost every type of ninjutsu (maybe?) So, if Sasuke plans on using Lightning, Kakuzu has Wind which owns Lightning Type Ninjutsus.

3.)Good at Taijutsu. Hah, watch those episodes when Kakuzu bombarded Chouji with his taijutsu. LOL It was priceless! And Kakashi also had a lot of difficulties on their 1 on 1 combat. He got beat up, and his heart is almost taken out if it wasn't for Shikamaru. And, he kicks like HELL. He broke layers of trees in one kick.

4.)Smarts. Admit it. He is almost as smart and as tricky as Shikamaru. I know he'll find a way to beat Sasuke.

So that's my reasons.

Going for Sasuke partly because the more Katon/Katon+Futon attacks that Kakuzu uses the more likely Kirin will into play. Yet apart from that he still has good counters for Kakuzu's techniques which I will have to explain on when I get back.

I'm not even sure he could cast kirin because Kakuzu will be constantly attacking him with his long range attacks and Sasuke doesn't have enough chakra to compete with Kakuzu for long.
Even if by surprise he cast kirin, he will only kill kakuzu once, after that Kakuzu do the job.

sasuke wont be able to figure out his chidori can beat the earth element heart right away. and thats really his main hope of winning this. kakuzus faster, more experienced, more destructive and more versatile since his black threads can restrain sasuke. he should have killed everyone easily but naruto had plot shield.

ao fought and survived vs shisui. the kages are (barely) surviving madara. sakura survived sasuke and sasori. see my point yet?
