How, exactly?

Haven't seen much of what Hashirama can do but since chapter 560, the jutsus that he possesses have been on such a very high level and were very impressive. Sasuke does have enton and amaterasu but it won't burn a whole forest from Hashirama so easily since mokuton is a lot more durable than regular wood. It took quite some time for Itachi's amaterasu to burn the forest down so I don't see amaterasu being a valid counter to mokuton.

Furthermore, lightning has proven to be strong against mokuton but the scale that Hashirama uses it is far greater than Sasuke's lightning so it won't be that useful.

Hashirama has counters to literally Sasuke's entire arsenal while Sasuke would struggle tremendously each time Hashirama whips out a new jutsu.

Wood clones may also be extremely useful as well as regeneration so Sasuke would have an extremely hard time in disposing Hashirama.

Hashirama wins this pretty easily and probably with low difficulty.

While I do agree with your overall stance on the matter, I will have to strongly disagree on Mokuton. The example you have given shouldn't apply in this scenario, as the flames were never focused on that forest, they were scattered and fell there themselves and still they burnt down nearly the whole forest around the hide out. If they were focused by moving the eye over the forest, do you think the outcome would have been the same?

Also, while Mokuton is more durable than regular wood, there is nothing to suggest that it can counter or hold its own against Amatersu. Since the wood is static itself and cannot simply evade or do anything to dodge Amatersu's focus. The whole forest will get burned down fairly quickly.

Hashirama is more powerful,but really has no answer to an amaterasu. Can he counter it,he cant dodge it can he?,dont know much abt him,but madara hasnt used amaterasu at all,and in their battle flashbacks,no flames were shown. Hashirama and Madara fought countless battles that ended in draw. Only in that last battle did Hashirama beat him and by a hair at that. They are equals by Manga standards if anything else.

I disagree with a few of your points.

- Mokuton would be virtually useless against Amatersu. One or two well-placed balls of black flames and the whole forest will get draped under it. No matter how durable it's, it's STILL wood. Remember what happened to the forest where Itachi and Sasuke fought? Scattered flames fell there - they were not even aimed in that direction - and the whole forest was burning.

IF Hashirama uses motkuon, he would be in serious trouble, as once the flames are lit, only Sasuke will be able to turn them off. If sasuke chooses to make use of Enton Projectiles, I doubt Hashirama would survive. So using Mokuton against someone like Sasuke who is quite proficient with Amatersu would be suicide on the first Hokage's part.

- Second is your Kirin point. Sasuke controls the radius of the Lightening strike, so he can wipe out the entire forest and hurt Hashirama along with it. The thing is, using Mokuton and spamming wood continuously and the believed win for Hashirama on this ground sounds really idiotic to me. Albeit we haven't seen HOW the battle was fought and what else Hashirama used to over-come Madara by a small hair - they were equals as the manga implies- I seriously doubt he did so by spamming wood.

I retract my earlier statement. If Hashirama decides to form a forest, he loses. If he doesn't and goes for the chakra suppressing dragon for Sasuke's Sussano, he wins mid ( Maybe high) difference.
