Truth is, Sasuke was never a pawn. He made people believe he's a pawn and when the time was right he stabbed them in the back as we have seen with both Orochimaru and Obito. Sasuke never turned out the way either Orochimaru or Obito wanted.
The battle Naruto vs Sasuke was definitely fated since everything that happend paved the way for it.

Lord Crow is the mastermind behind Le Sauce darkness/hatred and even had a plan to wipe it away and force him to protect the leaf...

Le Sauce did what he wanted to and clearly tells hebi that they are the ones using Akatsuki at the end of the day.
