Well.....the WHOLE uchiha clan....EXCEPT shisui and his father, and also Kishi's Sarada....is a big mess.....don't even ask why....more than 80% of the series is about the uchiha clan members and the history of the clan itself.....Naruto as a series had a big potential....but guess what...?!......RUINED....we should of gotten more information about the Uzumaki clan, other characters ( backstories, development, role, etc....)....Unexplained things....most of the villains are uchihas or are related to them somehow....BORING....

In a way, correct and i've been saying this for the longest time.

Kishimoto has never been the sole creator of the Naruto series, even down to the invention of Sasuke. So treating him like a biblical auteur figure is pointless. There's 0 reason to invalidate all Naruto content that isn't 100% Kishi is pointless because the manga has never, ever been 100% Kishimoto. From editors to influences to book writers to audience interaction.

A certain type of fan gets so invested in the lore and 'feats' they forget the primary reason for Naruto and other series existing- entertainment. No single fan gets to make a Naruto-licensed product redundant, because shooting down the novels, anime or is pure denial, man.

The obsession to invalidate and categorise media MADE for them is a toxic fandom ruining the fun of the media for itself. I doubt Filler123 wanted to start a discussion on Canon as a literary concept, this topic is suuuuper interesting. ​

It's the sports team-approach to picking favs that NB has I think. Makes for a lot of fans cherry-picking and denial. Debates about canon do happen in many fandoms, even down to fan-theories. It happens mostly with the nerdier franchises w/ different media forms...shows, comics, TV, films etc.

Star Wars, Marvel/DC Comics, Doctor Who. Anything that goes on for over a decade and has different characters and media forms. For example Star Wars has books, comics, audio plays and TV shows...it's natural people would get upset when decades of perfectly good storytelling was turned into nothing by Disney overnight.

So you're denying the manga now. I wasn't aware you called the shots.

That's the point with this debate, it's fiction and nobody owns it or gets to decide that for you. If you believe he's not a part of your reading of the series- that's great, but that's not the default. I like that addition that Kishi made and the original anime story is real fun addition to the NV too, won't let NB pointlessly invalidate that for me without thinking about why. Fan culture is bizarre, man.

Ninja Ostrich is bad but Ninja frogs, slugs, snakes, and monkeys exist.

PS Itachi is a far different case than the anime fillers though.
