In chapter 685, sasuke says, he has the skill to interchange places with an object...but we have seen in different moments that he uses this ability but not always shift with something, then? how it really works?

It was never said how big or little the object can be. If we can assume that he just swaps places with atoms, then he can teleport anywhere he wants within his range.

then please tell what was the whole point of switching with sakura's jacket? if he can switch with atoms then why even have the ability to shift with other objects and just have him able to teleport within a certain range? sasuke's ability is inconsistent. unless they are saying he can do both; switch with an object and just teleport within a certain range.

Sasuke had to swap himself with Sakura's jacket so he could make it to the next dimension. So he does have to use an object
