Well he lost an arm, went into exile, was only able to affect the village by having a kid & barely be around her or his wife. And when he DID have any connection to his home it was missions that required him to stay away & live most of his days alone in a crappy hut. Very, very far away.

At least in exile he was of use rather than rotting away being no good to anyone--and like other people said, it's not like anyone other than Naruto could get him down (& he lost an arm too to do only accomplish a tie & nearly bleed out) or keep him in there.

He has had far from a happy life since the war was over and he was necessary to defeating Obito, Madara, Kaguya and end IT.

No one is punished for their crimes in this series, not unless they're fodder. Consequences don't exist outside their own personal "journey of redemption".

Orochimaru - he's this world's Josef Mengele.
Obito - is apparently a "cool guy" though he went off the deep end in the most spectacular way.
Sasuke - unlike every shinobi who fled the village was killed by ANBU (like Kakashi) over the years, no questions asked. He gets a free pass. The aftermath of the 4th War isn't as telling as the fact that Tsunade never put him in the Bingo Book, Danzo did.

One of the few (main) characters to suffer for their actions would be Itachi - but he had to arrange his own execution.
... so I'm not sure that counts.

Sasuke from the beginning was never treated as everyone - supposedly - is. The average Konoha-nin would have been hunted down and killed for leaving the village... nevermind defecting to Orochimaru.

Jail might not be the answer - community service might have been better, he could use some humility.

Sasuke did more to help save the world than all of them, if he should be punished then so should they. But I see why you only mentioned Sasuke, because despite him committing far less crimes, he is far more relevant then they are.



More like he openly teamed up with the Alliance and fought against Obito, Madara, Kaguya, and saved the world from the Infinite Tsukoyomi. He's probably known as a War Hero.
