if you follow the trend of hokage's knowing there pupils family or some how getting there family member especially if there are from an important clan and how they chose hokage it is usually threw there pupils in there team of three.
tobirama and hashirama-trained hiruzen(sarutobi clan/big clan/famous father) and two other students
hiruzen-trained orochimaru(unknown clan),jiraiya(unknown clan), and tsunade(senju/big clan)
minato-trains kakashi(famous father),obito uchiha(big clan) and rin
the hokage's sort out the teams and they really do influence it like the third hokage choosing naruto and sasuke to be with kakashi and a reason for it was because kakashi was influence by minato and that was also a reason for kakashi to be even nominated for being the hokage candidate instead of danzo.
(hiruzen basically made the teams naruto and sasuke where not suppose to be together since naruto had the nine tails and sasuke had the sharingan where the uchiha were still alive which would make them close to the nine tails but hiruzen still wanted sasuke and naruot to be together and thought kakashi being minato's student can handle it.)
so if it is really is true that a student is picked based on there clan or even a famous parent then what about tobirama and hashirama team those two kids besides hiruzen weren't as big as hiruzen was and no resmeblement to any of the big clans and hiruzen had a father who was recognize as a great shinobi that sasuke uchiha would be named after hiruzen father.
here is a reason why sarutobi clan was a great clan and what made hiruzen father so great that even the uchiha clan acknowledges sasuke sarutobi, well it could be what the sarutobi clan has been shown of doing so far basically trying protect people and have peace like how ino,shikamaru, and choji parents maintain peace because of sarutobi's clan.(also by coincidence asuma from the sarutobi clan was a teacher of choji,shikamaru, and ino it probably wasn't coincidence it was most likely that asuma had to because they wanted to keep the unity off those clans together like what sarutobi's did before so it wasn't coincidence but it did proceed to make the bond greater in all four clans)a sarutobi is suppose to give a earring to those 3 clans for unity
also you guys have to remember that the uchiha and senju clans took control of most of the other smaller clans and if they were to create a village of force it would create fear and be unstable so there had to be some method of unifying clans and to be peace negotiations then a mass amount of hatred for being conquered under senju and uchiha so there had to be some person to talk about it and it was probably sasuke sarutobi who united the clans and helped make the goverment.(you can't just conquer everybody like that with that much bloodshed/fear and just make peace there had to be someone to unite them and take that fear away.)
so this is what i think sasuke sarutobi was known for basically for what the sarutobi clan was known best for but on a bigger scale because hiruzen father was alive at hashirama time and was probably around there age and with all this hatred in the village of being conquered by these two powerful clans people were going to go for revenge(cycle of hatred) but hiruzen father brought peace in this unstable era bringing unity amoung enemy clans and that's why ino,shikamaru, and choji clans get unity rings from the sarutobi's since they probabaly hated each other before.
sasuke relation to being named after sasuke sarutobi because sasuke sarutobi brought peace to a era and was a true prodigy to the village how this connects to sasuke is basically what the uchiha's want they wanted there own peace remember what tobi said about the uchiha losing there power and being striped well sasuke in there hopes of being like sasuke sarutobi and bring peace amoung the clan and thats what sasuke had been intended to do by from itachi and sasuke has actually saved the ninja world by fighting kabuto and killing white zetsu but from the start sasuke wanted peace and that's what sasuke sarutobi strived for as well peace.
now coincidently sasuke being the son of the uchiha leader who plans the coop de tat wants his son to be called sasuke sarutobi when the uchiha already felt discrimination from tobirama and hashriama's era well a reason i would think they would name there own child after sasuke sarutobi is because they wanted to get there rights back and bring back there version of peace like what sasuke sarutobi did so that's why they gave a uchiha that name.
so basically sasuke sarutobi is really the one who reunited the clans and stopped the hatred, the senju and uchiha conquered the clans but the sarutobi's brought unity threw the conquered clans and brought peace within konoha and sasuke sarutobi was a big part of that and that's why he is a great ninja and could possible have info of konoha,clans, and everything since sasuke sarutobi saw it all in hashirama and madara's era.
also think about it who else is there to see besides him all the other hokage's have been locked up and sealed who know about anything of the village but sasuke sarutobi someone who is in hashirama time and a big ninja would know about the the clan,village, and what happened in the creation and would be good to see sauske learn why he got his name.
sasuke sarutobi may not be the one who knows everything but i think he was the protecter of peace/negotiator
