Sasuke running out of chakra in chapter 38 actually makes sense and isn’t a nerf

Remember that each portal opening uses a significant amount of chakra for Sasuke.

Sasuke had opened one portal to enter the world where the “juvenile Juubi” was, then another one to leave that dimension (That’s 2 so far). Then after Jigen tried to leave Naruto in the world where he ultimately sealed him, Sasuke had opened another portal to enter that world (3rd) and prevented Jigen from leaving.

Remember back in Gaiden when Sasuke couldn’t even manifest Susanoo because he was drained from hopping dimensions and the tomoe were missing from his Rinnegan? Yeah...Sasuke wishes he was in that state at this point.

TLDR: Sasuke opened 3 portals in under 30 minutes, then manifested Perfect Susanoo, followed that up with two Ameno uses, then an Amaterasu. And that’s not including the portal he used to escape being killed. Canonically speaking, I don’t think he should have tomoe left on his Rinnegan at this point.

Sasuke was nerfed all the way back in Vote 2 which carried into Boruto, thusly Nerfed Sasuke became normal Sasuke, so the Sasuke that got wiped by Jigen isn’t nerfed.

Sasuke’s use of the portals bore consequences that carried over throughout the chapters, which isn’t a nerf. It’s actually great writing, unlike the anime portrayal of Boruto’s endless chakra.

He had to open 3, otherwise he would’ve made it to Naruto’s location just as quickly as Jigen did. There was no need for a delay.

He didn't know Jigen was going to Earth. When Jigen warped Naruto to that planet, Sasuke immediately knew he was there because he could sense his chakra.

Not buying it, nothing alludes to the planets being far away enough where Sasuke couldn’t sense Naruto’s chakra initially. Plus Jigen says out loud that he’s going to go see the two vessels, which Sasuke knows that both of them live with Naruto.

Why didnt he take any action on restrained juubi, he could try to gain some of its chakra and even attempt to kill it?
Why didnt he use same move they used on madara when they sealed his limbo shadow?
Why didnt they use the trick they learned just a min before to land a hit on jigen, namely when jigen was absorbing rasengan and couldnt move? Hit him with decent bijudama then either he eats it or tries to absorb and gets pinned down?
Why hasnt he used raiton infused sword to see if it cuts through rods?
Genjutsu worth a try too?

I agree with all of the above, especially the genjutsu and the raiton infused sword destroying those rods portions.

A while back, my buddy @DHOH pointed out to me that Sasuke used a variant of black lightning to cut through Kinshiki’s weapon in Boruto The Movie during one of our debates. That scene didn’t happen in the manga nor anime versions though.

On the genjutsu portion always maintained my stance of:

The instant an Uchiha doesn’t use genjutsu on a main character, they’ve been nerfed. Sasuke negs and I’m not even a fan of Sasuke.

I know I specified main character there but it works for everyone really.

Nerf doesn't necessarily mean their powers don't make sense, but how they have been used. Sasuke could have fired Kirin, Susanoo Arrows even if purely for distraction and Naruto's used virtually un-absorbable Rasengans vs Kaguya. He didn't even use a 1/4 of his shadow clone numbers, and went for a silly number of four or five which was obviously going to be useless.

If they used their powers with the same finesse against Kaguya and actually tried to feint Jigen, they would have smoked him, but no, they act like retards. Sasuke literally uses Amaterasu after so much preaching about Otsutsuki absorbing chakra for a living.

They really underperformed in this chapter, and that's the nerf. They performed way under their usual performance as a duo.

They got backed into a corner and all they did was uselessly summon up their monsters when it got tough, then got themselves negged by attacking individually despite knowing they couldn't do anything on their own. Obito, Madara, Kaguya, and Momoshiki didn't knock them out of their Avatars with pure strength. Neither did any of them counter Amenotejikara aside from Kaguya with a chakra taxing move.

Madara was duped all three times Sasuke used it (1 to evade the lightning fang, second to pierce him with his sword, and third for the Chidori-Rasengan combo). Kaguya was nearly sealed on the first try. Forced to switch dimensions. Nearly blitzed with an Ameno-Chidori combo before switching dimensions again. And on the third attempt she was sealed. He reacted to it almost instantly, just as Kaguya did. Both Kaguya and Madara still wound up getting teleported between Naruto and Sasuke; and after Madara and Kaguya respectively avoided being sealed, Naruto and Sasuke had to exert effort into pursuing them. So if Madara didn’t counter Ameno, neither did Kaguya.
