First things first, Kishi keeps changing the flipping story all the time. Sasuke in the beginning went from wanting to destroy the leaf, to killing the three elders, to destroying the leaf.
Until this chapter he heard a somewhat truthful story from tobi, and just got a confirmation from Danzo. Tobi told sasuke that the three leaf village elders were the ones who put itachi to do it, and that Danzo was trying to kill everyone including sasuke and that itachi had to plead to the third not to let danzo go near sasuke. that was clearly false, danzo gave itachi the opportunity to have sasuke have a living life. When the two other elders didn't really play a big role in it but..
When Danzo and Sasuke fought he assumed Itachi told him everything...including the fact that Danzo protected Sasukes life too and Danzo thought Sasuke still wanted to kill him after all that.
Tobi made it seem like Itachi couldn't kill sasuke for the sake of his love for sasuke, and that the leaf put him up to everything. Itachi calmly did what he needed to do he understood what the leaf needed to do and what shisui wanted, and he did what he did cause he was guaranteed sasukes protection.
Sasuke hated the village for everything they put itachi through but its not like itachi was forced to do it he did it to protect his village and make sure that sasuke didn't get hurt. if itachi didn't agree sasuke would've been killed. Sasuke would've died anyway if the uchiha did the coup de tat cause the whole village would've killed every last uchiha including itachi.
Its not like the leaf was going to strike the uchiha first, they were only going to react if the uchiha actually started it, and they knew the uchiha were going to start a civil war. so they had itachi end it before it started because the leaf just couldn't do that it would be a massive civil war.
ANYWAY. I think Sasuke has now realized that the uchiha were the ones ultimately wrong in all of this. Danzo was the one who gave him the mission and guaranteed sasukes protected life, and Sasuke killed him. Sasuke probably feels kinda dumb.
As for the future in all of this I know the final battle in the entire series is suppose to be naruto vs sasuke even after the war is finished so I think Sasuke will return, but at the same time I can't see it happening...
He killed Danzo, many samurai, attempted to capture killer bee and attacked all 5 kages. At this point though I can see him going to help the allied forces now but I could honestly see him dying somehow in the massive scale battle of him and naruto vs tobi or the juubi if it gets revived, he's an international criminal he probably won't be accepted back in every nation unless he does something major in helping out the ending of the war to be a hero with naruto, if naruto becomes hokage then he will obviously be accepted to the leaf, or if the ninja alliance becomes one whole world in the end and they all have a consensus he will be accepted depending on how he helps in the war.
But I think at the very least he is going to help the shinobi alliance, and if he dies well he dies and he obviously won't return, or if he does something major scaled to end the war or defeat tobi/madara/juubi then he will be accepted again.
Truthfully I hope he does stay alive, Naruto becomes hokage, he stays in the village and if there would be a few episodes, or a short series like dragon ball gt that would be awesome to see how naruto becoming hokage plays out and how sasukes life ends up. I could so see either Sakura and Sasuke being Narutos Assistant/Body Guards or Shika and Sasuke.
What do you guys think? Will Sasuke return? If so how will he prove himself worthy of being able to return???
