He was gonna use the chakra of bijuus to be immortal. Rinnegan or sharingan itself doesn't grant immortality, they help you gain immortality by taking control of bijuus chakras.

Wrong i dislike it for various reasons(same with wikipedia), none of which has anything to with any of this. One of the reason being that anyone can write their opinion of what a phrase means, its just another form of a wiki and its laughable when anybody tries to cite as a source
