Naruto did lose some of his bonds as the Manga passed (I-E - Jiraiya), he didn't suffer like Sasuke. They both suffered differently, but they understood each other.

I'm sorry for your loss but 8 is way too old to not give a ****. I have memories since I was 2-3 years old and I remember being very attached to my father in that period till I was 8, the most attached actually. Kids below 10 need their parents more than ever.

Off topic, I still get surprised at Naruto's growth as a character in the Pain Arc.

He came home to his village destroyed, thousands dead, and then his sensei murdered. All that and he kept his cool, bonds and all (Not saying he wasn't pissed off though).

Naruto cared for everyone, enemy or not. Even ones who destroyed his village, killed his teachers and killed most of the people he knew.

Arriving in your village to find out it's a crater and having to fight over the freshly killed corpses isn't easy.

Naruto, Haku, Gaara, Kimimaro, Sasuke, and Kakashi all have pretty equal pain of lacking/losing bonds. I personally think Naruto, Gaara, Bee and the jinchuriki suffered the most because it's hard enough never meeting your parents or being rejected by them, let alone having an entire village ridicule you to the point of turning you into a killer. A monster shoved inside you and THAT becomes your psyche, a venomous beast that infects your universe and causes everyone to view you like a virus that needs eradicated.

"It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" kind of thing. At least Sasuke experienced family love for a short while and had an older brother forever watching his back. Naruto had nothing, and had his only real familial bond in Jiraiya ripped away and he handled it like a champ.
