Sasuke wants to kill Naruto because he's the
closest thing to a best friend he's ever had ..?

It's like Sasuke doesn't wanna fall in love, not because he's afraid of the love itself,
But afraid of the after effect he intially had when he lost his family and doesn't want to experience that feeling again?

Sasuke lost his family and it ruined his life and changed his personality. He doesn't want to go through such an event again, and he wants to cut off anyone he has an emotional attachment to.​

That also puts into perspective of what he did to Sakura. If Sakura got close to him then he would just be putting her through he went through. So he purposefully tried to cut her feelings off.
