I don't even think Sasuke knows the stages to awaken the rinnegan. Him being stabbed by his own sword was his attempt at attacking Madarka,but failed. Besides Madara can completely solo Sasuke

Pretty sure this is a troll attempt, but Kishimoto had Sasuke stabbed becuz he needed him dead in a way in which Hashi's chakra wouldnt be absorbed and thereby letting on to Hashi's plan. Sasuke getting stabbed was the most logical way becuz it Sasuke's chakra wasn't absorbed and the minimum amount of damage was done to Sasuke's body while still dealing a lethal blow.

Whether Sasuke was simply shocked by being frozen in air or was immobilized is unknown, but I dont think Sasuke is dumb enough to willingly take a death blow when he has so much at stake for his future.

No he didn't. He doesn't even know a thing about the rinnegan abilities and that wasn't planned, he even thought "Shit, what the hell is this" when Madara caused him to levitate. Then, he started bleeding on the ground while having flashbacks and wishing to live. That was not planned, lol. But at least he's being revived now

I believe he was shocked and therefore did nothing, because Madara told him right after stabbing him "I gave you more than enough time to do something". No one would willingly take a death blow and that wasn't a plan. Sasuke was just being reckless and it happened. But on the more optimistic side of things, he and Naruto are being revived as of now and will most likely be receiving powerups, so this doesn't really matter much anymore.
