- Kakashi used Chidori to cut a natural bolt of lightning then renamed it to Raikiri / Lightning Cutter.

- Sasuke never used Chidori to cut a bolt lightning, meaning it's not Raikiri which literally means Lightning Cutter.


- Sasuke however used Chidori to Tame and Manifest Kirin / Qilin, who's an is a mythical and majestical being that's well-known for punishing the wicked with it's immense power.

- The kirin is acknowledged as the most powerful beast and is even considered a god at times.

Chidori comes from the famous samurai Tachibana Dōsetsu (立花道雪, Tachibana Dōsetsu) (22 April 1513–2 November 1585).


Tachibana was in possession of a famous sword called Chidori (千鳥 / A Thousand Birds). One day, while he was still a young man, he was taking shelter under a tree, as it was raining. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck him. However, Tachibana used his Chidori to cut the Thunder God inside the lightning bolt, allowing him to survive. After this incident, he renamed his Chidori to Raikiri (雷切 / Lightning Cutter).

Aww so that's where chidori and raikkiris hype originates from. Amazing.
