Seriously, a plot can always make sense without a character if you tweak a couple of details here and there.

without sasuke what significance would the uchiha clan be to the story? uchiha is important in the narutoverse the main character had to be involved with uchiha somehow

Maybe Sasuke wasn't needed at first. But in hind sight I think it was for the better that he was added, otherwise what lame excuse would Naruto have had to get stronger? Sakura? I think not, lol.

Um just because it wasn't in Kishi's intention to create Sasuke at one point doesn't mean he isn't necessary to the plot because he kinda is now.

Itachi would have died from an illness.
Danzo would be Hokage I belive
