Think about it

itachi wanted to die by sasukes hands. whilst testing sasukes abillities at the same time. to see if he would survive
against his future enimies .

i think.

sasuke wants to die by narutos hands. whilst testing naruto to see if he can overcome the essence of hatred
and darkness itself only then will sasuke die, becoming a majoy part of the shinobi legacy
