Sasuke is stupid... don't get me wrong he's still the best written character in Naruto.

But he's stupid, that or Kishi made him retarded at the last minute:

hashirama explain the past
Fights madara (dies)
learns the history from the sage
learns the real history from zetsu
sees madara die and hashirama explain to madara
before he fights naruto he says he wants to basically do the exact same thing as Itachi expect instead of uchihas he would kill the kages and I guess everyone would know it was him but be in the "shadows"
