Sasuke was acting like a bully victim from Itachi and did run away from Konoha to gain more power >.>.
Differences is Kakashi was directly talking about what would have happened if they clashed which is why he said worst case scenario. He didn't say "Oh if Sasuke put out Chidori and got hit by a Rasengan he will die." Kakashi didn't have to say the Rasengan was strong enough to destroy Chidori when he said Sasuke could have died, that much is implied or how else would Sasuke be in harm way from it? Sasuke's reaction also shows he knows what might have happened if they clashed, he showed shock at the sheer destructive capability of the Rasengan. Naruto took Chidori in the chest and didn't die so no about that.
