This is what happens when you people read crap translations. Madara never said Amaterasu was crap. He absorbed it, he didn't use his armor to block it. There is no point in using it because Madara can absorb ninjutsu. He has the freaking Rinnegan for goodness sake. Sasuke isn't the dumb one here. It's you.

Madara absorbed Amaterasu through the ability he gained from obtaining mokuton from Hashirama. He can absorb chakra through his skin, it's already been shown. So amaterasu would be pointless.

As for Sasuke not using Susanoo, I only have suggestions/opinions. Maybe Sasuke needed to be close to Madara for him to use that Jutsu he recieved from Hashirama. He has the sharingan and susanoo so he could have easily dodged or blocked the sword coming at him, but since he did not, you have to assume that this is part of his plan.

But he was able to absorb kyuubi's cloak chakra and Hashi's senjutsu chakra?

What did Hashi say in the next page?

He exclaimed, "He can absorb ninjutsu!" in his head.

A simple mind would misinterpret that as him saying Madara just absorbed the Ama. An intuitive mind would know that Madara closed his eyes to hide the fact he had no rinnegan, which is why Hashirama exclaimed that; He didn't know Madara had lost the Rinnegan.

On top of that, the signature field Preta Path puts up is absolutely nowhere to be found.
