Didnt he say that he was going to be the one to kill Naruto and erase the past two chapters ago..... and in this chapter he creates a perfect combination with Naruto and by the end of it is smiling beside him. I'm not sure whether Kishi is building up a Sasuke betrayal or something but it's making his character quite confusing and contradicting at this moment in time.

He saved Naruto and said he would delete the past. People (myself included) assumed he meant he would kill Naruto. Maybe this isn't the case.
It could also show he's conflicted. He has good teamwork and smiles with Naruto but might have to kill him for what he considers the greater good. It's not inconsistent characterization. It's Sasuke being conflicted between two ideas.
