i personally reckon its the original sage of six paths who was revived when orochimaru emptyed the belly of the reaper death seal i think so6p used the body splitter jutsu to split his evil half from his good half (kami dbz)
so the juubi could not use his hate against him thus sealing half of himself within the reaper death seal
now he has been able to use the soul transfer jutsu into a zetsu soldior giving him a powerful body.

Well Karin did say she didn't recognize the chakra. Orochimaru took back his cells from kabuto, so she should have recognized kabuto in the slightest. It would be cool if my boy shisui made an appearance.
