I will say that Sasuke has surpassed Itachi while he was alive. But if they fought right now I believe Itachi being an edo would make it an even fight against Sasuke's EMS

not even close, he had susanoo and amaterasu and even better control with amaterasu and since his regular sharingan broke itachi's genjutsu, tsukiyomi would be useless against MS sasuke, so sasuke has surpassed him

Well you have to compare notes of each one:
-Ninjutsu: Sasuke has this, his techs are stronger and I think he has more of them.
-Genjutsu: Itachi, I dont think Sasuke is up to his level
-Taijutsu: To me Itachi was faster and more skilled, but I do think Sasuke was physically stronger
-Intelligence: Itachi out does him easy.

In sheer skill Itachi is better, but with power Sasuke has surpassed him. Once Sasuke is able to analyze the battle field and out think/play his opponent using his brain and even simple techs rather than going full out then I will say he has surpassed Itachi. My opinion though

Itachi still beat him at the end though didn't he? Itachi also has those legendary weapons which is one of the reasons his susanoo is one of the strongest.

Ya sasuke has. Sasuke can freely manipulate ameterasu as he showed during his fight with raikage. He had susanoo covered with ameterasu flames.
