Sasuke, Naruto's life dream is to bring him back so its obvious why sasuke means so much to him.
Gaara, both share the same pain, and have the back story, so they will obviously unite for that.
Hinata, encouraged Naruto more than once, shared a blood bond, and opened himself to her, instead of the"I'm king of the world" mask.

what is so specail about Sasuke(the anti-hero), Gaara(fellow Jin), Hinata(Major supporting character) that makes Naruto place them above the rest? besides the obviious of course

We did not see many of his comrades in such situations. The transformation thing depends on circumstances; Naruto did not go on tails mode when he learnt that Jiraiya is dead.
Sakura was giving a battle; that was not like the first time they were in a mission.
Kakashi died and didn't care? He was going to fight with Pain and he had much more control of him; he was matured.
"Don't care" is a far fetched thing to say; since we are talking about Naruto; he cares about almost anyone who are around him.
With Gaara and Hinata examples; they were being dead right before his eyes; it is a completely different experience than seeing a wounded friend or learning someone's death through words; hinata's confession just added up to things.
But we probably won't see Naruto's rage tailed mode anymore; since he is in much more control.

Lets look at the things that pushed him over the edge before the Hinata thing:

• Jiraiya died(enraged)
• Kakashi died
• Village destroyed
• Finds out the killer is Jiraiya's student(confused and enraged)

Then Hinata's death pushed him into that emotional state, your acting like nothing bad happened before that event.

We've been over this issue quite a bit and some have complained ad nauseum..

Naruto only brought Hinata up as his trigger. As retarded as that sounds, that's what Kishi did in chapter 490. Now we just need to talk about why that was brought up in that way.

I would love to say the other factors are added reasons for his trigger, but the manga just doesn't compute that logic. It's one of the only things that confuses me about Naruto Uzumaki. Freaking Kishimoto...

Why would she? She is not the only ones who cares about Naruto; but the others can live their lives without stalking or thinking about Naruto 24/7. And they care about him and saved his life; Sakura, Kakashi saved his life, Neji died for Hinata and Naruto, Lee saved his life from Kimimaro's attack, and the others obviously care about him...
It is Naruto. He is not a person who puts people in scale of caring; he would try to do his best for everyone.

Theres a lot of characters who lose control for an important someone
even sasuke when he saw sakura hurt he goes nuts and almost kill the guys who beat her (THey would be dead if she didn't stop him)
