It is indeed possible that it's Sarada's umbilical cord....even if that's the case, the claim that Karin is her mother still stands bc why would Karin keep Sarada's umbilical cord and not Sakura?

With either translation the possibility of karin being the mother is very high.
If it's Karin's and it matched that means karin is the mom
if it's sarada's and it matched that still means it's a high chance karin is mom since she'd have 0 reason to take someone else's cord.

It can easily be salada's umbilical cord seeing as(as you just said) parents keep them

Even if it were Sarada's umbilical cord, it still points at Karin being the mother, since in Japanese culture, the parents keep the cord.
