If Sasuke isn't then why did Kishi have to use false advertising on Sasuke's part to sell The Last. Why is it that he's giving Sasuke the spotlight in the Gaiden series and even made him Boruto's trainer? I'll wait.
Sasuke was the most enjoyable before Itachi's death. He's been was an unlikable d-bag after. His first cause was at least understandable, even if you didn't agree with how he handled it. His brother took his loved ones, and wanted revenge. However, after the truth was revealed, instead of at the very least respecting Itachi's decisions in life, Sasuke pretty much spat on everything his brother stood for, and became an egotistical, selfish brat who was willing to kill innocent people cuz he was mad. On top of that, he gained a god complex when he got the Rinnegan and pretty much was doing the same thing Kaguya did. There was nothing likable about him till Naruto knocked some sense into into him.
Naruto was the more likable in the end. After Jiraya's death he matured from the kid that just wanted to be Hokage for attention, to someone who got over himself and was willing to listen and cooperate and befriend others. He's also the reason your fav Sasuke was turned from the dark side and all because he cared that much about his friend. Without Naruto and his will, Sasuke would have stayed the one dimensional character he was cuz no one else understood him.
I think so, if only because Sasuke's inner struggles were known to us as the reader.
Naruto's obstacles of character in part 2 were mentioned but they weren't shown to the reader:
His thought process on how to deal with Sasuke, his inner struggle against rage, building his philosophy, and building his leadership. All of these things were mentioned and somewhat shown from an outside perspective, but very little of it actually put us in Naruto's shoes.
To put it briefly
Before Itachi's death Sasuke > Naruto
After that Naruto> Sasuke
To the people who think he is a well done complex character, please watch the series Homeland. Nicholas Brody is probably similar (not same) to Sasuke. He is a well done complex character, not Sasuke.
the whole uchiha storyline just got way too out of hand, it should have ended the first arc after part 1 and not have been dragged out for so long. I feel a lot of characters suffered because that storyline went one for so long and then the war was bigger than i feel kishi expected it to be so things were rushed and it some people had to miss out.
Sasuke has mood swings like Satan does in Paradise Lost from Milton. He is lost like Satan is. Unable to make his mind on what he wants. Both avengers wronged by a sovereign power. His quest for revenge consumes him, like Aeneas's in Vergil's Aeneid. Dido commits suicide as he abandons her. Sakura and his lovers are left in a similar state of distraught. He has no compassion like Medea in Euripides's play of the same name as she murders her own children to get revenge on him. In a similar way how Sasuke kills Itachi to take exact revenge on him as he wronged his clan.
I haven't even touched the aspects he shares with Macbeth, Hamlet and other post modern dramas. So the whole 'he isn't complex' characters here, should stop talking. Some of you clearly have no taste.

Brody became a typical governmental pawn after the first season - mid of second. Frankly speaking, HL was poorly executed. The whole thing about patriotism was handled well when things were questioned. But bar the first season? I am unsure what their aim was afterwards.

I love it how Itachi fanboys and apologists believe that Sasuke should have accepted the slaughter of his entire race over Jingoism and that would have been the right thing to do. Respected his garbage opinions on politics and should have put mud on the defiled graves of his kinsmen. Yeah, Konoha didn't even leave the dead in peace. Heck, the guy slaughtered his own parents, killed innocent women and children and old people who would have contributed nothing to the Coup. Yeah, I would have a hard time respecting such a douche-bag.
Furthermore, likability and lack of it has zero consequence to how well a character is written. I find it hilarious that kids here have such narrow perspectives and tiny arguments and pointlessly baseless opinions on this. The more likable a character is, the more unrealistic he is and the more complexity he lacks, the more one-dimensional he is. Sasuke is one-dimensional? What a preposterous opinion. Thank god for those.
I like Naruto's character. The way he created bonds with people, the extent he went to save his friend from darkness and his hard work.
But Sasuke was the one who went through various changes, I think he was an example to show the readers what would happen if someone surrenders to revenge and hatred.

:lol they believe loyalties based on nationalistic tendencies is good character, anyone who doesnt conform to such is bad. they fail tp understand that sasuke and itachi are two different characters with different mindsets.
OT. of course he is. not just him but about several other characters are better written than the boring cliche of a hero that you easily find in other mangas.

Loons/Extremists are bad - no matter what their philosophy is. Being more individualistic and self centered doesn't make a philosophy more developed and broad minded.

All people who follow Nationalistic ideologies - even religious ones - have limited perspectives on life. In fact, latest research has gone to state as much as that they have limited intellectual capacities.
Actually, it does. As that ideology is created out of life experiences and shuns the one created by a set group of people and followed by the masses on just because basis without question. It does make them broad-minded and free-spirited. Also, every single person is self-centered. That is an irrelevant argument to merge with nationalism of all the things.
