Yes, it was. Imo all pairing have a possibility to happen in this Manga, regardless if it makes sense or not.

Dude Kishi is such a bad writer with pairing that we shouldn't be surprised if he brings SasuSaku from the grave just so Sasuke learns love.:|

I agree, But Imo Kishi isn't being a bad writer with pairing, the thing is that he intends to gives all the fanbases equal "hope" regarding the possibility of their favorites pairings happening, so that he can keep them all at bay. Imo.
And I won't be surprised at all either.
