Sasuke and katon

This was something I always saw as maybe inconsistent with sasuke's character. Sasuke has a TREMENDOUS amount of pride about his uchiha heritage, but he never took the time to master his fire style? The style of his clan that he has so much pride in. The style that his father personally taught him, shit it was the only thing he ever taught Sasuke. Going by Sasuke's character and personality it just seemed like mastering fire would be a way for him to feel close to his father and his clan, as well as a source of pride.

This is the strongest fire attack we've seen Sasuke use.

Now there is an excuse I think, Maybe the fire jutsu's that Madara know's weren't passed down and nobody knows how to use them. We never saw Itachi use any stronger fire jutsu either, and Sasuke never saw Madara use them so he couldn't copy them, and i'm pretty sure obito's technique is just gouka mekkakyu spun around by his sharingan.

Also, I don't count Amaterasu/Enton because during the timeskip when Sasuke was training there was no way he could have known he'd end up with those powers.

With Ameterasu at his disposal with just a flick of his eyelash why bother with katon? Ameterasu is leagues stronger but katon is faster in terms of momentum anyway. And who knows, maybe Sasuke does know other fire style techniques but you know how kishi is why nostalgia

very true. Sasuke displayed a number of fire style jutsu back in part one. He used it against Itachi in Part II after he got Mangenkyo and Eternal Mangenkyo there really wasn't a need for Katon (which requires handseals) when he had use of Amaterastu/Enton which ignites and recedes at his own whim.

It's not that he isn't good at Katon, Amateratsu/enton is just more efficient....which is what ninja's are all about, right?

Enton isn't a Dojutsu, it's a Nature Release. When Sasuke uses Enton through his eyes, it creates the Dojutsu Kagutsuchi. The same way that Amaterasu is the Dojutsu created when Katon is used through the eyes.

Enton is another word for black flames & kagutsuchi is just manipulating the shape of the flames
