Sasori is one of the most wonderful characters in the entire manga. His entire fight with his grandmother was an analogy for their relationship, and the whole thing was character development. It was storytelling at it's finest. I have no problem with him loosing to Chiyo, who took an entire fortress singlehandedly in her prime. Sakura's only help in that battle was acting as a puppet for Chiyo, and providing the antidote. If she didn't have that preparation, the two of them would have died early on. She counted the most brilliant thing about his style simply because she had his poison from kankuro and time.
And he wasn't talk no jutsued in the classical manner. As I said, the entire fight was an analogy for his relationship with Chiyo.
Pt. 1
Hiruko
Sasori is at his most guarded here. He looks demented to his estranged grandmother, who wants to breach his emotional defenses and reenter his life.
Pt. 2
Third Kazekage
Sasori shows off his most prized possession in a vain attempt to impress his grandmother. He wants her to understand how far he's come (and gone) in an attempt to bring her into his life (you know, before he mauls her). Disgusted, she rejects his art and smashes it to pieces, caring only for her view of how he should be, and not realizing what she's doing to him emotionally. She also uses his puppets, the Mother and the Father, which are created in his dead parent's image. She's trying to get through to him using them, but it doesn't work because he's still too guarded.
Pt. 3
Sasori reveals his true self and his ultimate art. Chiyo unleashes her full power against him, realizing that he's too far gone. She decides that the kindest thing is to kill him. She abandons her plans to bring him back to life. She defeats all of his attempts to strike out against her, (with Sakura's antidote) and she kills him with his own parent's puppets. He dies in their arms, and finally, as death (his greatest fear) is upon him, he has an epiphany and he decides to let Sakura in on the intel.
He's one of the most complex characters in the show, and his fight was brilliant and beautiful. I wish more of them had this emotional depth and complexity.
