Since Kimimaro busted right through Gaara's defence I'm going to go ahead and claim that Gaara's auto defence cannot stop Sasori's massive IS spear since it has immense force with small energy per area. Magatama's went right through Gaara's 'Mother' defence, and those shits don't have as much power as Sasori's IS spear.

Sand Tsunami is countered via creating an IS platform. Not really seeing how Sasori loses this. Especially when the two people who evaded his sand had a 4.5 speed, and guess what Sasori's speed is? 4.5, so the instant sand crushes body (wouldn't crush heart anyways) arguments can go right to the trash.

How? Gaara doesn't have his strongest shield in the air, he just has his sphere which was already destroyed by Chidori. ISWO could create a sort of obstacle stalling Gaara's offensive sand while also basically ending Gaara.

If he's in his sphere at least, I forget if he can fly around while attacking or if he needs to focus to controll it.

My knowledge on Gaara and Sasori are severely lacking, but I doubt IS would really be effective against the huge quantity of sand gaara can manipulate
