saskue smarter than shikamaru

if we're talkin about making strategic decisions before and in a battle, shikamaru is unquestionable winner, there are many examples to proof that. and sasuke, well he is driven by sum crazy s#%! so in my opinion sumtimes is working gd and sometimes is just an epic fail.
well i think sasuke develops plans in stress siuations faster, whereas shikamaru always needs some free seconds to come up with a plan. in situations where shikamaru is prepared, his plans overtop sasuke's plans by far, but in a battle sasuke is the better strategist.
i would use shikamaru as a general and sasuke as a captain.

shikamaru said that he came up with hundreds of ways to beat temari during the exam but the one he used was the quickest since he was running low on chakra bro, and yeah sasuke is smart no doubt about it but he can completely understand everything about an opponent within the first few minutes of the fight with his sharigan, shikamaru doesn't have that advantage, i give it to shikamaru because he unlike sasuke can make a whole battle plan for a entire unit not just himself

well, in my opinion shikamaru is smarter, there are almost no loopholes in his plans. i was wowed by his intelligence during the battle with temari. shikamaru also can create a strategy to defeat an opponent even when he is low on chakra and not as powerful in techniques and jutsus. just give him his brain and he could defeat you even with something silly like a toaster
of course, sasuke is also commendable in his battle strategies. but i think he managed to see deidara through so easily because deidara's so.. transparent. lol. and sasuke also has all his fancy tricks and skills on his side so it makes his life a little easier!
the real question would be shikamaru vs itachi's intelligence! i'd like to see how a match between those 2 plays out xd itachi would probably win overall but not without some amazingly smart move from shikamaru stalling him first! thats what i think

The thing with shikamaru is that his ability to make changes in a split second is most definatly gonna be the final decision of wit. On the other hand sasuke would already have his plans set and would have no need to change. Going back on the subject of thinking a certain number of moves ahead since Sasuke has many different plans for the outcome he would have to think ahead of each one of those, as opposed to Shikamaru who only alywas has one plan but can edit it without a problem. I think id rather be 10 moves ahead in one plan then 30 moves ahead in 3 plans, way to confusing, and I doubt Sasuke could keep up on his own strategy. In conclusion Shikamaru is the most intelligent for the only reason of his consistancy and his ability to maintain one plan but make changes to it, I mean your pretty bad at strategys if you have to have more then one am I right? So shikamaru is the winner in my book.

shikamaru is smarter but i know some one who is smarter then him His dad shikaku he always beats shikamaru in there chess games and is a jonin plus he went to the kage thing with tsunade not shikamaru

Well Shikamaru can dodge pretty quickly and maybe even before the attack even started!( Maybe....) Did you see Shippuden episode 33 when Choji was about to punch Naruto and Shikamaru so Shikamaru pushed Naruto out of the way?! Now that is knowledge! His attacks would probably make Sasuke go "Woah":no_ignore::flaw:!

Yes, that?s right. Sasuke isn?t so cool and smart like some "years" ago. Now Shikamaru is very smart, cever and cool. I think he has surpassed Sasuke! Too bad - I liked Sasuke, but now ... -_-

Okay there is no question about it that shikamaru is smarter than sasuke like cmon the lord of the fire country wanted shikamaru to be apart of the 12 ninja guardians protecting him based on his strategy and leadership skills that has to say something and then his fight will hidan the first when asuma dies planned out atleast a 100 moves ahead even asuma said it and he had time to think because he had comrades giving him time and protecting him it's not like he ran away and thought of a strategy and came back he did it in the heat of battle and it's hidan's fault for giving him time also the same thing for temari and then also your suppose to go into a mission or a fight with a plan or many plans based on the information your given to just go in without a plan and make moves on the stop in he heat of the sitution is stupid like sasuke did for the kages summit no plan and shikamaru came to the fight with hidan and kakazu with atleast a couple plans and planned the whole battle out like that is just amzaing to know what your ememy is thinking and is going to do and shikamaru may not have as much justu as sasuke but he has enough to win and he dosen't need all that justu he just needs to win and then sasuke has the upper hand in fighting just cause of his sharigan so there is without a doubt shikamaru is smarter than sasuke.

Sasuke is f**k**g gifted boy. He didn't work hard that much. What we've seen so far in the manga that Sasuke really work hard was the time he learn Chidori and during his childhood(his training with Oro is not shown). The rest where he got really powerful jutsu are all gift. So, Sasuke is not at all comparable to the Shikamaru, 2nd wisest(i put his father to be no 1) guy in Konoha. In battle, Naruto is still smarter than Sasuke(their battle with Zabuza). So, in terms of smartness, Sasuke is on par with Sakura.
