Kirin is a lightning technique that requires a lot of external lightning. It is an extremely powerful, one-shot technique that strikes in the blink of an eye. It uses lightning from chakra manipulation to bring down the natural lightning. The user draws lightning directly from thunder clouds to supplement the power of his or her strike, and controls it with chakra. Because the technique uses natural lightning as opposed to elemental chakra, its power easily outmatches all other Lightning Releases. Normally, techniques are limited in power to the amount of chakra capacity any giver person has. Kirin, however, calls on the external lightning, which in terms of a lightning jutsu, makes it far superior to any other. However, the extreme preparation time required also decreases the technique's efficiency. This technique in the absence of active thunder clouds requires Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique or other such techniques to produce the necessary storm conditions to initiate it.
To initiate a lightning storm, and then to take control of lightning in order to guide it to a target while using the shape manipulation shown above, drained even Sasuke of most of his chakra. In addition, usage seems to destroy the thunder clouds as the sky cleared up of clouds after use. As such, this technique can only be used once in a fight. However, natural lightning can reach a temperature of 30,000 ?C, so that even if it misses the target, the sizable blast will likely eliminate the enemy, if for some reason it does miss the user will be left vulnerable to attack meaning that it is important to NOT miss. Itachi withstood this technique by using Susanoo.

Susanoo
* Name: Susanoo (須佐能乎; Literally meaning "[He] with the ability to help by all means")
* Type: Kekkei genkai, Offensive, Defensive, All ranges
* User: Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke Uchiha (Presumably)
* Debut (Manga): Chapter 391
Susanoo is a technique that creates a spiritual being resembling a yamabushi wielding the sacred Yata no Kagami (八咫鏡, Eight Span Mirror), a mirror that's considered one of the three sacred treasures capable of reflecting all attacks, as a shield in its left hand, and in its right, the legendary Totsuka no Tsurugi (十拳剣, Ten Hands Long Sword), also known as the Sakenagi Longsword (酒刈太刀, Sakenagi no Tachi; Sake Cutter Longsword). The Totsuka no Tsurugi, commonly sheathed in a sake jar held by a third hand growing from Susanoo's right forearm, is an ethereal weapon with an enchanted blade capable of sealing anything it pierces in an eternal dream-like illusion, and is described as the perfect counter to Orochimaru's Kusanagi Sword.[1] Like the Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi, Susanoo is an ability of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Zetsu said that Susanoo's Totsuka Sword combined with the Yata mirror essentially makes Itachi invincible.
The Sword itself can be presumed as an extension added to the technique as Zetsu mentions that 'Where ever he (Orochimaru) searched he could never find it.' Also going on to mention that Orochimaru had 'searched for it all his life'. However the technique will drain the life of the user through continued use.
[edit] Influence
Similar to other Mangekyo Sharingan abilities, Susanoo was taken from Japanese mythology. Susanoo the god of sea and storms was the brother of Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi, with Susanoo born from Izanagi washing his nose.
The Totsuka Sword is the sword used by the god Susanoo to slay the eight-headed and eight-tailed snake, Yamata no Orochi, just like it was used by Itachi's Susanoo to defeat Orochimaru's Eight Branches Technique (八岐の術, Yamata no Jutsu).
The Yata Mirror is one of the three Imperial Regalia of Japan, together with the Kusanagi Sword and the Yasanagi Jewel.

Abilities
Sasuke is established as a natural genius even by the battle-excelling Uchiha Clan's standards at the series' start, excelling at all that he does and finding little difficulty in more challenging tasks, which is most immediately evident through his proficiency with the Uchiha clan's Fire Release Techniques, as well as a number of other weapon-dependent attacks. Scoring the highest in the performance tests and one of the highest in written tests, he easily graduated top of his class in the academy. His prodigious talent was first shown durign the Survival Test against Kakashi when Sasuke's skills forced Kakashi to use both hands, whereas Kakashi could easily read his book against Naruto and Sakura.
In addition, both Madara Uchiha and Orochimaru have stated that Sasuke possesses the potential to become much stronger than Itachi. By Part II, he develops much of his potential and becomes a very powerful ninja, strong enough to defeat Deidara, a powerful member of Akatsuki and Orochimaru, even though Sasuke admitted that the only reason he won was because Orochimaru was in a weakened state at that point because his body was close to failing him. He even managed to gain the upperhand against Itachi for some of their fight in Part II (though Itachi was overcome by his disease at that point, and wasn't even trying to win), and has also proven capable of easily defeating a small army of shinobi without even getting a single scratch on himself.
As a member of the Uchiha clan, Sasuke possesses the Sharingan, the Clan's Bloodline Limit, which first develops during Itachi's departure from Konoha after the Uchiha Clan Massacre and eventually reaches completion during his battle with Naruto at the end of Part I. While his ability with the Sharingan is fairly ordinary during Part I, Sasuke is able to develop a number of more novel uses for it in Part II. During his encounter with Naruto, Sasuke demonstrates tremendous power and mastery in his Sharingan as demonstrated when he is able to use his Sharingan to enter Naruto's subconscious where he proceeds to suppress the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox residing within Naruto. In this instance, the demon compares Sasuke's eyes and chakra to that of Madara which it claims is even more sinister than its own. When Orochimaru later tries to take over his body, Sasuke is able to use his Sharingan to fight the process and turn it against Orochimaru. His Sharingan Genjutsu abilities have also increased over the timeskip, allowing him to easily hypnotize opponents. His skill with the Sharingan has grown to the point where he could overcome the Mangekyo Sharingan Genjutsu, Tsukuyomi.
Sasuke is able to put the Sharingan to good use in Part I after his brief encounter with Rock Lee. Although their fight is ended soon after its start and Sasuke is unable to see much of Lee's arsenal, what he is able to copy with his Sharingan is utilized for the duration of the Chunin Exams. His newfound Taijutsu abilities are first seen in the form of Peregrine Falcon Drop, which consists of wrapping himself around an airborne opponent to ensure they are unable to save themselves upon impact with the ground. A derivative of this jutsu is seen again as the Lion Combo, and after kicking an opponent into the air Sasuke delivers a series of blows to them, eventually culminating in a debilitating kick to the chest. By Part II, Sasuke becomes fast enough to move in the blink of an eye. Sakura mentions after their first encounter in Part II that his growth rate wasn't normal, even suggesting that Sasuke has been taking special drugs.
An important aspect of Sasuke's growth as a shinobi in Part I is his acquisition of the Cursed Seal of Heaven. Orochimaru, recognizing his potential, bestowed the seal on him as a gift in order to grant him greater strength and entice him to seek Orochimaru for further power. Initially, Sasuke suppresses the seal on Kakashi's advice, but later on, his frustration with his inadequate strength forces him to rely upon its power in battles. When activated, the Curse Seal grants him enhanced speed, strength, durability and chakra. However, it corrodes both his body and his mind, giving him a darker personality and making him vulnerable to Orochimaru's influence.
After defecting from Konoha, with the help of the Sound Four Sasuke activates his Cursed Seal to Level 2, allowing it to cover his entire body. This grants him power comparable to One-Tailed Naruto. The Second Level of the Cursed Seal turns Sasuke's skin dark grey, grows his hair longer without losing its style, and gives him a dark star-shaped mark on the bridge of his nose and hand shaped wings on his back. In this form, not only are his physical attributes increased, but his techniques are also enhanced by the Curse Seal's dark chakra. However, this form corrodes his body at a much faster rate, so he cannot use it for prolonged periods. In Part II, Sasuke gains complete control over the Cursed Seal, and can even access its power without keeping it constantly active, as shown in his fight with Itachi in Part II.
As with Jiraiya passing the Toad Contract to Naruto, Orochimaru gave Sasuke the Snake Contract to use the Summoning Technique for snakes such as Manda. Sasuke can also use Hidden Shadow Snake Hands to summon snakes from his hands to attack opponents or wrap around himself as a shield. After absorbing Orochimaru, Sasuke gains access to Orochimaru's vast number of techniques as well as regenerative powers that allow him to heal at a much faster rate than usual. He is also able to use Orochimaru's Oral Rebirth Technique to shed his skin, repairing any damage to his body. After Itachi seals Orochimaru away, his Cursed Seal is removed and it is implied he loses these powers.
To encourage Sasuke not to use the Cursed Seal, Kakashi teaches him how to use the Chidori, made more effective when combined with his Sharingan and the speed he has copied from Rock Lee. With this combination Sasuke can punch through the strongest obstacles with relative ease, as well as severely damage any opponent. In Part I, Sasuke is limited to using the attack only twice a day, with a third usage after the initial activation of his Cursed Seal. Over the timeskip, Sasuke puts great deals of development into the Chidori's ability to manipulate lightning-based chakra, being able to perform multiple lightning techniques in a single day. When first seen in Part II he is able to use Chidori Current to emit electricity from all over his body as a shield that stuns those it comes into contact with. He can also channel the Chidori through his new chokuto, giving the blade extreme cutting power and allowing it to numb anyone it cuts. With Chidori Senbon, he can condense the Chidori into multiple needles which he can throw with pinpoint accuracy. With Chidori Sharp Spear, he can transform the Chidori into an extendable blade, though he can only stretch it to about 5 meters in length. This blade can also split into multiple blades upon contact with the enemy, drastically increasing the damage it can inflict. He has also shown the ability to send the Chidori through the ground, creating an electric current beneath his opponent's feet. His most powerful original technique is Kirin, a lightning technique that uses real lightning as upposed to chakra. If there are no thunder clouds available, Sasuke can use Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique or any other powerful Fire Release technique to create thunder clouds. Sasuke then takes control of the lightning, shapes it into a Mythical Beast in Japanese Folklore known as a Kirin, and then he brings the lightning down on his target. It is extremely powerful, as shown from its ability to destroy an entire small mountain. It is also unavoidable due to the fact that the lightning moves at the natural speed of lightning, which is a significant fraction of the speed of light.
Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan in Sasuke
During his battle with Itachi, Itachi permanently seals away the part of Orochimaru still residing in Sasuke with his Susanoo technique (Kabuto integrated the majority of Orochimaru's remains into himself), removing Sasuke's Cursed Seal, then dies himself but passes all his techniques to Sasuke through a poke on the forehead. Itachi did so in an effort to help him fight against Madara, setting to activate when it catches sight of Madara's Sharingan. Later, when he realizes that Itachi was good all along, and did all he could to protect Sasuke and help him grow, Sasuke awakens his own Mangekyo Sharingan.[8]
Sasuke's own Mangekyo Sharingan
Having received all of Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan techniques, Sasuke is now able to use Amaterasu and presumably Tsukuyomi and Susanoo. In his fight with Kirābī, he used a Genjutsu which has been speculated to be Tsukuyomi due to having a similar appearance and effects. He has also showed the ability to extinguish the so-called unextinguishable flames of Amaterasu, which he used to save Karin's life when she was being burnt by it. As with Itachi, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan damages his eyesight every time he uses it. While resting after his fight with Kirābī, Sasuke finds that his vision is slightly blurred, which shows that he is gradually going blind.
