This is exactly why I was somewhat impressed. An entire manga volume (10 chapters) was created just to reconfirm Sakura/Sasuke were Sarada's biological parents after she had just accepted to love them even if they weren't blood ties. Which made the entire thing pointless.

Meanwhile, in just 45 pages (equivalent to almost 2.5 chapters)- Mitsuki can get an entire backstory, Orochimaru can be elaborated on, etc. And the lesson remains intact + the panels look epic.

Yeah, he had more time to plan all of this out. He wasn't doing it as he went along, like with Naruto Gaiden.
