Within the context of the Boruto, what purpose would it serve to tell a girl about how the village conspired to kill her family? What purpose would it serve to even begin to encourage her to look into it? How would she react? You assume that she would take the Naruto-inspired "I'm going to be Kawaii" - but that's a pretty big gamble, especially if they go Kwai. Then, what have you done? Raised a kid to turn a suspicious eye toward every person who accidentally short-changes them or blocks their path?

There is teaching the lessons of history, and then there is perpetuating the anguish of history. Part of the job parents play, and their importance, is the salvaging of lessons from the anguish so that their children do not have to repeat it, but can still learn from it. It isn't exactly perfect, but it's what we have.

The question, here, was to the character of Sarada. You are, now, trying to blame her for the decision her parents made to keep these things secret, and then trying to blame her for not leaping at the opportunity to dig up bones - as a child.

The discussion of whether or not the decision of Naruto, Sasuke, et al was proper is a very different argument that has very little to do with Sarada or her character.

As rotten as what I need to climb into to get the job done. We can wash after.

That's a valid observation. Those who are raised to take further responsibility for the conditions of the world around them are going to be more inquisitive.

That consists of two people. Three if you count the vagrant father.
Yeah, if you're on the Hyuuga Estate and see the work of generations laid out before you, it's difficult to not connect to a greater sense of family existence and responsibility. By contrast, the current Uchiha Clan can barely deck out a studio apartment.

You're kind of defeating your own argument by suggesting Sarada was brainwashed, then trying to blame her for that brainwashing and not immediately dropping everything to jump at the first crack in her reality.

Then just bite, and let the tears flow.

Yeah, why should we teach the HOLOCAUST to children?? It will have a lot of neo nazi trying to the same thing again if we teach why it was exactly wrong. You didn't even mention how Konoha was wrong and it OWNS apologiy to Sarada, as they are part responsible for her loliness.

You are the kind of person, that good God, let's the genocider go untouched FOREVER. Wating the victim to agree to live between them like nothing ever happened.

Yes, she has responsabilty in the ignorance in which she is living. She herself admits that in Gaiden, and I'm not even mentioning about family issues. It's about everything. Again, ANYONE that buys a stolen good would get imprisioned too. Why? Because you are obligated to know about your surroundings, specially if in your surroundings got your grandfather and grandmother killed.
And you use a freaking emblem everyday from a noble clan. Man, she doesn't even care about the noble in it. Nor her DIRECT relatives.
In an era that she is free to question anything. It's not like someone will murder her if she asks for more information like in Warring States.

I guess you and her just match, Deniers of Holocaust.
Disturbing.

Let's not even touch the fact Sasuke HAS JUST CAME BACK AROUND AND THERE WAS NOBODY TO EVEN TELL HER OF HER HISTORY ANYWAYS.

Sakura does not know everything that happened, and Naruto sure as hell doesn't have time to give Sarada a history lesson, nor do I think he would step in anyways, he probably thinks it is much more appropriate for Sasuke to tell her their family history in full detail, which it is.

Even if Sarada DID want answers, she never could have gotten them.

I don't wonder why you are having such a passive aptitude towards GENOCIDE.
You are telling in the other thread you want politicians get paid to talk about your issues that transform your OWN life. And you don't like doing it.
Did you know that in even in Ancient Greece those who didn't like politics were called idiots? And that's the etymology from ths word?

Because that what you deserve being called if you defend that if your grandfather and grandmother were killed you should go along with the flow. Because that's what you deserve if you blatantly choose to ignore something that is in your back everyday.
Because that's what you deserve if you support a character that doesn't even fears having a position of power that can kill thousands. And are there just for the beautiful glow.
Because genocide should just be in particular talked about and not in a school so people will avoid it.

What a healthy political oriented behaviour you have.
Actually: sickening.

The only people who knew of the true plot behind the Uchiha Massacre were the village council of the time (Danzo, in particular), the Third Hokage, Itachi, Kakashi (who heard it from Tobi), Naruto, Sasuke, and I'd have to consult the manga for every single person confirmed to have known. It isn't even apparent there was a documented record that it occurred.
The people who orchestrated the event are all dead (well, spare for tobidara) - the people who actually owe Sasuke and Sarada an apology.

The village didn't know. The conspirators and those who became aware owe the village an apology, it could be argued - although even then, let's say we stir up the issue. Itachi is dead. Danzo is dead. The Third is dead. The council, if it isn't dead, is one foot in the grave. ...

I am not saying I think it was the right decision to completely bury the issue and never publish an accounting of it. But, also keep in mind what that truth means. The Uchiha were planning a coupe. Or... so the new hokage claims. That is why Itachi killed them all as a hero (because Tobi told me... I have no records of this). So, Sasuke, who I didn't just lose an arm to, is totally cool and not going to try and do the same (yet).

I am not saying I agree with obscuring the truth... the problem is that, even within the Naruto universe, the only evidence we have of what actually happened are Tobi and Itachi's account. Without some kind of evidence - documents, records, recordings (Zetsu's eye)... it all basically just amounts to the new king trying to re-write history.

You are the kind of person, that good God, let's the genocider go untouched FOREVER. Wating the victim to agree to live between them like nothing ever happened.

Itachi and Tobi were the ones who massacred the Uchiha clan. Danzo proposed it. The Third Hokage let it happen. The village can't exactly be blamed the same as co-conspirators. The Uchiha, also, weren't exactly without their own faults. Had Clan Emo not gotten their panties in a wad about hierarchy, then it could be argued that Danzo never would have proposed the plan. There are a lot of factors on this sliding scale of culpability.

Okay, then. Sarada is a horrible character. She should be thrown into the rape dungeon as a perpetual judgment for not looking deeper into a ping-pong paddle. A person should be eternally and endlessly judged, tortured, and destroyed for a single character fault. They are completely static and incapable of learning or developing.

By this logic, dogs, cats, other animals incapable of grasping the symbolism and depth in the world around them can be judged and abused because of that judgment with full justification. My cat owes me a new set of headphones and is a horrible little shit because she chewed on them when I was at work.

You're spitting a lot of venom, but it's not really going anywhere.

I guess you and her just match, Deniers of Holocaust.
Disturbing.

It is interesting to me that the holocaust has become such a tool of conversational bludgeoning. Without need or applicable context, you compare the holocaust to the Uchiha Massacre. How about the Land of Mist, where people with blood line limits were hunted down and killed by society? If we want to try and discuss moral proxies, that is a far closer one. The Uchiha Massacre is closer to something like 9/11 or a clandestine military campaign.

I stopped reading when I discovered in another thread you called Uchiha a bunch of EMOS. EMOS. You call people who were fighting for freedom and their rights as emos. You think that the genocide is somehow justified because they were planning a political coup. BECAUSE THEY HAD THEIR RIGHTS WIPPED AWAY. Can you get more sickening than that?
You think that just because your parents support a kind of behaviour you should go with the flow. No wonder why your country still doesn't have public health.

You insist to talk big. But know something: you and I know you are sptting empty nonsense.

You defend Konoha not apologizing for its acts against Jinchuurikis, Uchiha Clan, and most people who only thought different from them.
You defend a girl to act passively as nothing happened, when she is fully aware her grandparents got wiped out for something really near her. And you defend her to become Hokage? That's why you must be the kind of person that votes on someone for they way they sound and dresses.

You and her are just meant for each other. Notices the mosquito, but ignores the corpses of your own dead.
It's inexplicable why one would ignore something that is in your back everyday and books screams you are a noble clan.

Vomitous.

Then there really isn't much to discuss. If you are at the point where you are going to stop conversing, then there's not much point in trying to speak. Not that it will stop me, because that's not what this is about. I can talk while being bitten. I understand.

That is ascribing a bit more nobility to their cause than was present. Since we all like the Lion King around here, I don't see people saying Scar and the Hyenas were great and noble liberators.
Does Sarada get to become Hokage just because she wants to? There are things you insist a Hokage should have, must have. You are effectively tying the end of your own argument, here. You are arguing that Sarada's character sucks, and it can be extended that you would not support her bid for Hokage.

You think that just because your parents support a kind of behaviour you should go with the flow. No wonder why your country still doesn't have public health.

Be careful, charging into the unknown.

You're extending this argument on quite the hyperbole. I get where you are going and what you are aiming at. I do. But by using proxies this way, you're leading yourself into answers you want to hear.

When most people see something that makes them want to vomit, they do so into a trash can or try to turn from others. It speaks to the passions of a person when they, instead, choose to vomit on someone.

Like I said. We'll wash after.

You just want to sound like a philosopher. And you are nothing but an idiot that thinks that people that are looking for their rights are criminals that should be put down. And tells them they are emo.
Stop talking about me, and focus on the topic. Otherwise you admit yourself defeated. As you already are.
You can't possibly defend a girl being passive towards the death of all her relatives in the father side.

I didn't say I supported what was done to the Uchiha. I simply said that their own actions can't be removed from consideration or understanding. I did call them Clan Emo - and while it is a slight on their character, it is pointing out that their reactions to a number of situations encountered by other clans were over the top. That is, within the context of Naruto. Extending this on hyperbole to apply to some other group will be problematic.

If you are wanting me to agree to the idea that the Uchiha should not have been killed as they were, then we were in agreement with that before the conversation started. But that does not mean I agree with the idea that the Uchiha would have any kind of right to use that event to extort reparations from people who were bystanders to the whole ordeal.
If the people of Naruto had a more active role in selecting or overseeing their leadership, then I would agree that their negligence allowed for such a tragedy to happen, and that they bear some fault and blame.

But when the Hokage and the council conspire - with little to no records, and ninja keep secrets or die... then how could the public ever know what really happened? Unless there were something like Zetsu's Eye that recorded it, then it would largely be up to Naruto and gang to try and come along and announce the real truth, with little evidence.

That may be what they should have done. But, at the same time, I can understand why that decision was made to not. I am not really defending it - if you want to attack them, attack them. Why haven't Naruto and Sasuke set the record straight? But if you want to attack me for understanding why they didn't... then that is okay, too, I suppose. I can understand that action, too. Others, who may be a bit more deserving of it for never waking up, won't understand it.

As for Sarada - you're not without point in saying "coulda, shoulda, woulda." But to try and permanently label the character of a child - not even teenager - is a little unreasonable. Perhaps the writer should be blamed, as you have pointed out, her character seems a little unrealistic.

Maybe the publishers didn't get the memo. Perhaps we'll find out in a flash-back that Sarada has done a bit more digging than was shown or immediately evident?

Having her digg more or less doesn't matter as she isn't the least preocuppied her grandfather and grandmother were killed by something really close to her, ignores the symbol that has helped to create Konoha and all of suddenly they are all wiped out, and prefers to go on and on about a chair that has helped to destroy her family- again you are responsible for knowing your environment. Specially in a manga where children like Hashirama can overcome WAR propaganda that is even heavier.

Even a younger Itama - that was around 5 years old - could understand you should be suspicious of people who are the majority, and you are the only one who is alive from a massacre.

And you can't defend Konoha for not giving for the public the truth. That's called fascism.

Okay, so, we are back to "sarada is a piece of shit" ... and that takes us to where?

Even a younger Itama - that was around 5 years old - could understand you should be suspicious of people who are the majority, and you are the only one who is alive from a massacre.

Well, perhaps. There again, the Uchiha were hardly the majority back before the massacre, and had seen their fair share of fighting. If someone wants to find a minority population to identify with, and then human tragedy to rationalize as targeted against that group, then it can always be found. There is a bit of danger in this line of thinking. Not that it isn't understandable.

And... you may be surprised at what sarada has found, if given the opportunity to hear her out. Just because she hasn't shown it, yet, doesn't mean she doesn't know. Perhaps she has no big reaction to it all because she already knew. Maybe she already tried to tell people, but the genjutsu was just too strong at the time.

And you can't defend Konoha for not giving for the public the truth. That's called fascism.

Fascism is quite the buzzword. Carries a hell of a negative connotation to it, too.

I think the more accurate term is an autocratic oligarchy - the belief that a small group of people have the power to unilaterally decide what things should or shouldn't happen within the administration. It is the belief that Naruto and Sasuke have the place to decide what types of things become secrets, and what become truths.

Again, however, if something like Zetsu's eye existed to verify what happened, and survived, then it could be used by someone willing to reveal the truth behind the Uchiha Massacre to the public.

So now Konoha just shouldn't admit they did a massacre just because they don't have a video? A document?
And should the Uchiha be wiped out just because they were a minority? Of course not!
The fact that the truth is being held it's one more thing that I despise on the ending. It gives off the impression genocide can go unpunished. When in fact the people who did must ask forgiveness and act like it.
And the people who suffer it shouldn't be quiet about it. They must be the most critical about it.
Specially if it's a peace time.

That's taking my comment a bit to the extreme.
Let's say Naruto were to come out and tell everyone what happened. Would they believe him? Would they try and turn it into politics? Let's say a few citizens found out and were upset, how would they best advance the idea?

You can find a bunch of people saying almost anything, and screaming it very loudly. There are people screaming that we live on a flat earth (which... it wouldn't surprise me to find out the Earth being a sphere was also a lie, but I don't see the presentation of the people saying it is flat as convincing). The difference between magic thought and science thought. Science helps us to filter things down to practical purpose. Ideas, particularly those without evidence, are dismissed or ignored simply by way of practicality.

And should the Uchiha be wiped out just because they were a minority? Of course not!

The hell did I ever advocate that?

I would agree that the ending of Naruto was a shit slide into donkey balls for the most part. Even the parts that ended okay just were kind of stated to have been there without developing organically.

And the people who suffer it shouldn't be quiet about it. They must be the most critical about it.

There's not being quiet... and then there's raging. You're entitled to raging about it, especially to me. But that is part of what is frustrating about the whole affair. You can hell and scream and try to get people to wake up. Certainly, I can empathize with it. The apathy and silence were part of the reason I couldn't stand to wear the uniform, any longer. Even when people see your point, there is often times an inability to understand what it is they are supposed to do with it. It's infuriating.

So... let's say Sarada were to take an interest in all of this. Maybe she's late to pick up the mantle, maybe she knew more than she let on... how would she go about this?

Considering how she is portrayed to reacting to her OWN grandmother and grandfather's death, I wish they don't develop her any further on this. It's dangerous for her to mess things up in favor of Konoha. Again. Settling the cursed fate of the Uchiha.
Naruto is actually a somehow sugarcoating Hokage, just like Hashirama but I'd say worse. At least Hashirama told Madara they would make things right, because he recognized a lot of issues were in the air.
What uniform? What's infuriating?

You're making a lot of judgments that, while they are yours to make, are rather prejudice on your part. I don't particularly blame you - but, think you'll find Sarada a far more interesting character than your current assessment grants.

I, for one, think it is far more tragic to cut off a character's development. If you always want to try and find a better example of a person or character, then you're almost always going to find it. A world where people never measure up... a world where everyone is a failure next to the ideal.... Sounds rife with disappointment and anger... not just at others... but at one's self.

Perhaps, but he's also Naruto. If it doesn't involve hitting it with a rasengan, he's lost most of his available skill set.

Way back, a few years ago, I had a similar exchange. One where I was wrong.... but didn't find out until a while later, while doing some other research. It wasn't the smoking gun evidence, but it was enough to let me know just how evil things had become. I tried to find that individual - but the thread created was deleted and I never had any verification that the message was received.

It was asked of me if it was honorable, or dishonorable. I don't know what you call it when you realize your oath of service has you fighting 'yourself' first, when you see the writing on the wall. That was when I set off on my own. I came back... well, for this. One or the other of us knows us too well. Perhaps both.
