I'm just correcting this "3rd in class" thing. It was 3rd in obstacle course. Similarly she is 1st in shurikenjutsu.

Boruto calls her an honour student so there might be more to it. We'll have to wait till graduation to see who is rookie of the year.

Shino said that it was a test for overall physical assessment for your strengths and weakness. Based on that alone, it means Boruto and Iwabe are superior to Sarada, and Sarada (and those two) for everyone below them. I don't remember who was fourth, I think it was Shikadai or Inojin.

Mitsuki never took the test, but I would rank him above Iwabee, Boruto, and Sarada. Making the rankings:

1. Mitsuki
2. Iwabee
3. Boruto
4. Sarada

Although I wouldn't be surprised if Boruto/Sarada surpass Iwabee by the end of the year, but potential wise, even the teachers stated in the latest episode that Boruto and Iwabee are the most interesting of the year (this was a conversation between Konohamaru, Moegi, and Shino).

The rookie the year is definitely gonna be either Boruto, or Iwabee. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's Mitsuki, because he's clearly superior.

Boruto is faster than Mitsuki though.
Boruto speed (although in the future?) = 160
Mitsuki's = 140

Even in the last episode, he was able to stop both Mitsuki and Smuire(?)
Mitsuki is better than him at fighting, but that does not mean he is faster than him.

shino did say he was judging strengths and weaknesses and he was writing something down on a notepad we don't see. However, Denki comes up to Boruto specifically saying "your time was second, look at this" and of that course and we see Boruto is second.

Sarada managed to do that just because she had friends around her, if she was alone, Metal would have easily caught those shurikens with his naked hands like in the scan I posted.
