And has been told that he was a rare prodigy even as a kid, & given what he was able to do in the kumo situation, i doubt Itachi could rival him let alone defeat such a prodigy. Keep into consideration that even Jiraiya and the Fourth Raikage deemed his abilities to be unmatched by anyone else. With the thunder god Minato will solo.

But i don't recall him being in a regular team though, also joining the anbu doesn't necessarily label a shinobi as top tier ninja, for instance, Lee in gates would destroy Itachi if he went full berserk , and so do others. As you stated, we still don't know about Minato's past but from what Jiraya had to say about him implies that he one hell of a skilled mofo.

Itachi's track record at that age actually justifies the hype to some extent while Minato has nothing but words backing him up at that time. Hashirama and Madara are probably better than Itachi in that age. Madara killed adult skilled senju and was stronger than most of the adult shinobi in that time without having the sharingan, which is greater than anbu captain. Hashirama was even stronger than Madara. So they both greater.

I don't recall ever seeing mitsuki using oro's techniques or summoning snakes maybe I hit my head or something show me scans or its all lies

Is there any proof to backup that statement? What track records again, itachi isn't a prodigy, he was just blessed with Shaaringan that tracks movement at a slower pace. If that's your case then anyone can be as good as Itachi aslong as they are above average and had the shaaringan and Kakshi would be an example of that.
