It seem that would most likely be the case, keep in mind Boruto has Lots of rivals whereas Sarada seems to be in good relationship with Boruto after his admiration speech about becoming her shining white armor.
Sarada is in good term with everyone even someone like Chocho. Sarada doesn't seem to be the type of character to hold any grudge except if there's anyone who stands in her way of becoming Hokage and so far there's no one in Konoha in her generation intrested in this position which gives me doubt about Sarada having rivals.

As far as rivals go, they most likely evolve into something of the sort. They may even motivate eachother by monitoring the others progress and taking mental recollections to remember..

Sarada clearly has a romantic interest in Boruto, since she stalked him in chapter 700, decided not to bail him during gaiden, motivated/forced him to join the chuunin exams (compulsory need for sarada), stalked him again & again during his training session, told Sasuke to not give up on him & now and this. The latter half is some weirdly translated English trailer which holds no substance compared to the actually movie, where you would see they are just good friends. The trailer they released was meant to be deceiving anyway.

At the end it showed Boruto using a technique, hinting that it was his ability, but it was the technology.

Regardless the Japanese trailer shows none of those hidden messages and just says that they are battle comrades. I dunno why the english translators felt the need to trick people /shrugs

But honestly I think its way better this way. No rivalry on the team = No angst or forced dilemma.
