Agreed, it was pretty awful. I hated the flat characters, and what made it worse was how I'm supposed to feel bad when they die yet I didn't even remember most of their names. Kirito is a boring protagonist with no memorable traits while Asuna has the same problem, which makes their bad romance all the worse.
