Then stop being stupid. This arc has highlighted Sanji's kind-nature towards innocents, respect for culinary arts, devotion to Strawhats' lives over his own, and being a thug. But you're choosing to focus on the nosebleeds and choosing to ignore all of the other aspects of his character that has been delved upon in this arc. Sanji isn't being pathetic in the manga, you're just choosing to pay attention to ONE aspect and then acting like the manga has shown you that one aspect. That's your own fault.


You're right, since Sanji's entire multi-chapter backstory of him and his mother focused on nosebleeds.

Cause him fighting back against his brothers and refusing to do the marriage brought up his nosebleeds.

Because him attacking one of his brothers for wasting food, him working hard as a child to get food to his mother, and him eating and complimenting the maid's food, and the subconsciously making a bento box of his friend's foods focused on what? That's right, nosebleeds!

Sanji struggling with what to do about the wedding and tossing around the fact that his friends' lives are on the line, also known as, you guessed it, a nosebleed.

Sanji's relationships/interactions with Nami and Luffy, I remember the nosebleeds that were pouring out during that fight and the reunion.

Funny how one character trait that is used for a momentary gag weights more in your opinion of Sanji than the series aspects of his kind-nature, relationship with Strawhats, rebellion against family, and respect for culinary arts that's spanned over multiple chapters.

But that's not what happened to Nami...her consciousness wasn't in the body, so it wasn't done to her. Being unconscious isn't the same as your consciousness not being in the body at all.

In what world is being cruel to your friends not a bad trait?

Sanji getting hard for girls that don't like him and endangering his crew is bad to his character.

1. Is it endangering his crew? It's happened, but has it shown itself to actually be ruining the plan? No it hasn't. If it DOES start ****ing up the plan, then that's a good point, but that hasn't happened yet, if it at all it will.

2. It's a bad trait, yes. But it's not a trait that outweighs his good ones. You can be mad at the gag, and call it stupid(which it is) and say the gag failed because of its bad timing, but that doesn't change that the gag doesn't define Sanji's character. He's not flanderized to nosebleeds, so it's not accurate to say he's a pathetic character for having a pathetic or bad trait, he's simply a good character with a bad or pathetic trait. All of the Strawhats have at least one.

If Sanji exhibits many traits in equal or even superior amounts, and you choose to focus on one of them that is supposed to be minor and for a gag, ignoring the ones that are supposed to seriously define him as a character, then that's a fault on you, not the writing of the character.

No it's not. The fact that the comparison is being made to a character from a different character doesn't invalidate the comparison.

If people are expressing love over a character who is extremely perverted, but bashing another character for the same trait, then the comparison is valid.

People make comparisons across series and mediums all the time to illustrate points in criticism of art, doing so is not a bad thing or a bad debate device whatsoever when the comparison is made through relevant aspects. Stop that now.

The acting is so good that it looks real, except it is real. That is the joke.

This is a valid post. It's still, however, inaccurate to say that Sanji's character as a whole is pathetic, when this fraction of his personality hasn't outweighed the rest of his personality traits. It's a dumb, bad one, but still doesn't define him.

Bege is not a comedian you moron. Bege is being setup for a comedic moment by the author. Bege doesn't know Sanji like we do, that was the purpose of that scene.
