Tell me all about sand it's purposes it's weaknesses and advantages as well as combinations

Sand is a unique ability which can only be used by Gaara and the Jinchurikis of Shukaku , in which the user uses his chakra to manipulate the sand which is presented there like in hid gourd and Gaara can also create sand by digging in to the ground. It is weak to Lightning and somehow To Water also as it makes it heavier and difficult to move and it is strong against Fire coz it is seen that it can defend upto many high ranked fire jutsu. Combinations would be the Wind release because it will make it go very faster. Thats all I know
