Her lifespan will only decrease when the technique is in use. She's an Uchiha with Sharingan... her eyes and battle instincts will make her better able to dodge an opponent's abilities and therefore need to rely on it less.

I fear for her as a character though if Borutos gen continues.

I'm aware of that. Frogs taught Jiraiya/Naruto to use SM their way and gave them frog jutsu along with it. Kabutos SM is another example. Without any unique jutsu it's just blending nature energy with your own. No specialties like frog song/kumite etc. Isn't that just plain SM then and kinda useless? Furthermore. If there was a slug SM. What stopped Tsunade or Sakura from learning it?

If slugs can give jutsu. What kind do you think it is? Splitting up and regen is redundant due to clones and byakugo seal and that's mainly what Katsuyu does. Acid spit? There's jutsu for that or similar ones with similar effects.

I would rather want her to learn her papa's awesome Raiton Jutsus. He is the most versatile Raiton user in the manga with over 9 different uses of Raiton. She can learn Yin seal with it. She has a lot of potential because of Sasuke. Kenjutsu, Shuriken-Justu, mastery over Sharingan and Ninjustu; there is nothing Sasuke cannot teach her. I'll simply consider Yin Seal an added bonus.
