Byakugou is, like I said, rapid self regeneration.

Sage Mode on the other hand does not grant its user any regeneration abilities. Basically, Sage collects natural enrgy from the enviroment and mix it with his own chakra in order to create new, much more powerful type of chakra. Although SM does not grant its user that much addiotional chakra (33% more compared to base leves, so its not that drastic), Senjuutsu chakra has much better quality, thats why Sages are getting so much stronger after activating SM. It also gives them great sonsory abilities.

So you see, mechanics and abilities are completely different when it comes to those two mods.

No, thats just basic math, thing you learn at school. Normal chakra contains of body energy and spitirual enrgy, their ratio is 50/50. In order to create Sage chakra user has to add natural enenrgy to it, and just like when it comes to normal chakra, the ratio must be balanced, so:

1/3 is the body enrgy
1/3 is the spiritual enrgy
1/3 is the natural energy

If user will absorb too small amout of natural energy he wont be Sage at all, if it will be too big amount he will become imperfect Sage like Jiraiya, or in worst case he will turn into a stone statue.

We already know abilities that SM grants, regeneration is not one of them. Besides, she already has perfect self-regeneration technique in form of Byakugou, so plot-wise it would be sensless.

She wouldn't be able to master it. Jiraiya, one of the Sannin, was a Sage for years and even then he was "imperfect".

Also, it just wouldn't fit. When you think of ninja such as Hashirama, Kabuto, Naruto, and Jiraiya being the only known users of SM, it seems quite fitting; they're all overpowered in their own right (albeit Jiraiya not nearly as much as the other three, but once again he was "imperfect" and spent the majority of his free time at the hot springs).

I agree that it would take long for her to accomplish that, but she has a large amount of chakra stored in the Yin Seal, so that wouldn't be a problem...
