The point was that his speed is useless against Sakura.
aka he is not as fast as his hype wants him to be.

He also has less chakra, and will get heavy body damage when he uses gates. While as long as Sakura has her seal she can recover from any Taijutsu damage she receives.
Sakura >> Base Lee. And she outlasts gate lee.
