His body was healing by itself but he wasn't medical ninja

Learning Medical ninjutsu i hard enough, learning how to heal ones self is extremely hard, and he isn't uzimaki and I doubt it had anything to do with his Senju body, Im sure he studies and developed Medical ninjutsu and then Tsunade expanded it.
