To be fair, he was a Genin for a reason and he was an adult. Don't bring Naruto and Sasuke's ranks in to this because that's a completely different situation. He has the power, but does he know how to use it? We haven't exactly seen him fight, nor do we know if he even won the fight. So it's kinda hard to determine a winner here. Plus if he does open the 8th gate, wouldn't that result in a draw since he Dais as well?
