To figure out his abilities, and to wait for backup. Durr. He can't go all out if it means kakazu steps in. And considering both enemies were in a sense "immortal" going for a killing blow might leave him open(like what happened to kakashi). Especially since hidan has the range advantage.

An extremely hurt asuma needs hidan to be pinned. A fresh asuma dosent.

She jumped so that no one would get hurt by the shockwaves of her punch. And even if punching the ground won't have the same amount of effect as the punch she did in mid-air, Tsunade was able to do this to Naruto by making only a little crack in the earth.
