I have to agree with a certain thread I saw earlier, Sakura is really underrated. Yes she can't be compared with Naruto and Sasuke in terms of raw power and techniques but she's unique in her own way. She wasn't born special, Her parents were apparently fodders who weren't even known in the village. She didn't had a special clan trait nor was she a reincarnation of any dead character whatsover. She also didn't pocesses any Doujutsu or Bijuu chakra, but she was extremely hard working. She was able to rival tsunade, a Senju descendant in medical Ninjutsu and basically gathered Chakra in one spot for three years, Shizune called it the epitome of Chakra control. She was also shown to be extremely skilled in Genjutsu as well. In the Fourth Great Ninja war, she saved and heal several Ninjas and even rendered the knockout blow against Kaguya which enable Naruto and Sasuke to seal her properly.
People saying she's Fodder have no idea how illogical they actually look. Let's assume she had a Bijuu, or came from a dominant clan like Uzumaki, Senju/Uchiha. I'm pretty sure she would had been immensely stronger insomuch she might had even rival Sasuke or Naruto. Unfortunately, it's just assumption. But, indeed she's a force to be reckon with and would undoubtedly be the best Medical Ninja currently. (Naruto 700)
Sakura's "unique-ness" - I don't think she's very unique, and I think a lot of Sakura fans have picked up on the similarities between herself and Kushina (for example) when touting their NaruSaku threads.
Even Minato noted her likeness to Kushina, and that's coming from her
husband.
In regards to her abilities as a kunoichi I don't regard her being unique either - she's Tsunade II.
She uses Tsunade's techniques (an accomplishment in itself) but that's it; she uses
only those techniques in what appears to be in their base form and that's it; there's no variation - unlike Sasuke and Naruto she doesn't take those techniques and expand/better them as they do with their's (ex: Chidori, Rasengan).
Personally I would have loved it if she had learned genjutsu - not useful against Madara/Obito perhaps but it would have been useful to her team when engaging various other enemies throughout the series.
And with the loss of Kurenai and her students not picking up the skill, it would have been great to see that skill expanded upon outside the Uchiha mindset.
Clan Traits - I'd argue that Naruto didn't possess any "special" Uzumaki traits.
No red hair, no fuinjutsu affinity, no heal-bite, no Eye of Kagura, no Chakra Chains.
He didn't (and couldn't) contain the entirity of the Nine Tails as Kushina and Mito did before him. He didn't survive extraction as Kushina did (note: she did so even after giving birth), so I'd claim that as evidence he didn't possess their regenerative abilities/strong life force of the Uzumaki clan either.
What he had, he got from the Kyubi and even then I'd say the majority of that was a drawback and a negative for most of the series.
Like Ashura, he inherited ZERO talent from his parents.
Other benefits of a clan are being raised by them. Naruto was an orphan - at least Sakura had parents to raise/teach her. In this regard, she had advantage over Naruto - a head start.
Hard Working - Again, I'd argue this. Eventually she applied herself and worked hard enough to master Tsunade's techniques (by the time of the 4th war).
But at the Academy she was a fan girl who coasted on her academic scores, she wasn't remotely "hard working" as I'd define it, not as I've seen in others.
In Shippuden she eventually mastered what Tsunade taught her but she didn't overcome a great hardship - there was no underdog scenario nor was the odds against her. In fact, everything worked in her favour.
She had the benefit of a Sannin for a sensei, she had genius-level intellect and incredible chakra control. She was tailor made to be a superb med-nin.
Neither did she have clan techniques or demands to impeach on her training - unlike Ino who's team placement made it vital she learn and master the Yamanaka techniques to be an effective member.
Compare with Naruto - he had terrible chakra control, below average intelligence (dead last), little/no support from peers or adults, and a pervert sensei who'd peek on bathing women rather than teach him.
From what I recall of Tsunade's teaching methods, she was hands on and strict - a good sensei in that sense.
... so I think Sakura had the advantage. Perhaps she wasn't born "special" in a flashy way, but she
was special, being born with talents in excess of what most were given (intelligence and chakra control).
